Wilkinsburg Community Ministry was established in 1968 in response to the changing social climate of the area. Local churches recognized the need for a Christian response in mediating the unrest among persons of the community and in assisting them in dealing with forces affecting their lives.
Since 1968, Wilkinsburg Community Ministry has continued to grow and change in response to new and emerging needs present in the borough of Wilkinsburg.
Today, 32 congregations, 3 judicatories, businesses, and individuals support the ministry, plus a large number of volunteers and a small, but dedicated full and parttime staff of seven. Wilkinsburg Community Ministry is recognized in the community as being at the forefront of meeting the needs of the residents of Wilkinsburg. more
