Corporate Habitat Projects
The Three Rivers Habitat Partnership (TRHP) currently has 20 corporate sites that are managing their land for wildlife with the guidance of the Wildlife Habitat Council and local partner organizations in southwest Pennsylvania. Habitat Projects are a win-win situation for all, demonstrating sustainablity and environmental stewardship.
Wildlife Team members from PPG Technical Center conduct a plant survey to document species on site.
Why corporate lands? Over 70% of our nation's lands are privately owned; therefore, conserving only public land is simply not enough. Corporations often own large tracts of valuable land which can be managed for habitat without affecting their operations. In addition to being valuable for many species, corporate habitat projects: - enhance community relations,
- and even reduce costs associated with mowing and landscaping.
TRHP chooses to help these private landowners, as well as individuals, with habitat enhancement.
