All emergency calls are handled through the Westmoreland 911 call center located in Greensburg, PA.

Penn Township has a police department consisting of approximately 20 full-time officers. Paul Ronca became Penn Township's police chief starting October 1, 2008. He leads the department, which is headquartered off of Sandy Hill Road at 2000 Commercial Court, Irwin, PA 15642. You can e-mail the police chief at chief@penntwp.net. Ambulance service is provided by Penn Township Ambulance Association, Rescue 6, which is located in the center of Penn Township at 1030 Sandy Hill Road, Irwin, PA 15642. Rescue 6 is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support ambulance provider. Rescue 6 is a nonprofit organization made up of professional and volunteer personnel, that provide emergency and non-emergency ambulance service. Each year between January 1 and December 31, Rescue 6 offers a subscription plan to residents of its service area. If you would like to become a subscriber, telephone them to have a subscription brochure that explains all of the details mailed to you. More about Rescue 6
